On Saturday evening, I went with my parents to this special music event: in this awesome castle garden (big ponds, lanes, hedges…) a number of orchestras, ensembles, choirs, musicians were playing all sorts of music by Mozart, at different times, 4 times that night. We wandered around a bit, listened to a sonata for violin and piano, attended a performance of the Crowning Mass, heard bits and pieces (as we walked along a dark, candle lit lane) of the Requiem, and finally ended up at Scene II of Cosi Fan Tutte. All was very beautiful, and the only lights were provided by candles and torches, except on the stages of course. At 11.30 there were really nice fireworks over the main pond, set on music. Was an adorable night out.

Sunday I slept long, and then did some more sawing and cleaned up the garage (finally !), and did some garden work as well.

Today I slept long again and started in the garden, clean out a rose perk, put up a little wooden fence around it, dug a lot, and need to continue tomorrow. Kinda beat now.

All in all, peace of mind is what this gives me, and I like it. Still happy girl here.

Last night, after the game of Nephilim (which was frustrating as usual since we never seem to get on with anything) I finally booked some flights to and from Glasgow !!! Seemed I waited too long to book, since some flights are full already, so I’m heading out to see my love on tuesday 20, and I’m coming back on monday 26, by taking two planes (via London Stantstead). Ugh, I hate flying. Costs me 131 euro all in, so that’s not too bad. Gonna see my love again ๐Ÿ™‚

He booked some flights too: he’s coming here for a larp in november, so he’s flying in on thursday and going back home on monday. I just hope I’ll manage to get him to the airport, since I have to work on monday. ๐Ÿ™ Hehe, he’s gonna be here for my birthday ! Yay ! Me happy girl !

Spent yesterday from 18.00 till 21.30 baking two cakes, both an experiment. One is a big tower of profiteroles, covered in merengue… Lots of work, making the profiteroles, filling them with yellow cream, making the construction… Looks fine tho !
I made a fruit cake too, with banana, pear, apple, grape, yellow prune… This one didn’t start out so well, but looks really yummy now !!! I have to finish it later on with roses of whipped cream ๐Ÿ™‚
Just made another cake (hey, 9 people, of whom 6 professional cake eaters), one of my standard ones: cocos cake with frosting and cherries on top. Success guaranteed.

Heh, I can’t stand the smell of cakes now anymore, I get sick of it. When I climbed into bed last night, Bart said I smelled of cakes. I’d hate to be a patissier, I think.

Anyway, some more chores coming up before I’m ready for the coffee party this afternoon: ironing my hand-made chair covers, and cleaning the aquarium. Yuck. But it needs to be cleaned, and since they will get into the kitchen, I can’t but do it. Man, tortoises can make that water really dirty !

Dreams

Now that I read thru my friends’ LJs, I remember dreaming about G. Yep,

gothbargod was in my dreams, and he was living here in Belgium. Some people came up to me on a party and asked if I had seen G. I was like: ‘Huh ? He lives in the US, right ?’ So they told me he was from around, but managed to fool me all that time, and I hadn’t recognised him on parties. In real life he wasn’t that hot as he is on pics, they told me. I wouldn’t believe that, and I spent the rest of that party looking for him. Never found him.

G, can you explain this ????

For the rest I’m doing pretty well these days… Still vacation, heh, gotta love a two month summer recess. Measured up the attic yesterday, gonna see for building materials today. It’s gonna be a huge loft, I’ll post pics when it’s done. If it only didn’t cost that much money, sigh.
Need to iron chair covers today, and get the house ready for tomorrow. Cleaning lady is coming round, luckily. Tomorrow will be the day that all the old crones from my family come for coffee, and when I say old crone this time, I mean it.
My gran (91) comes with her sister (88), and they both will be picked up by my other grandfather (89) and my gran (80) and driven here. It’s not that the former two don’t drive cars themselves, but it would be silly not to drive here together. Well, the aunt is coming a long way already by car to her sister. Then two great-aunts from Bart are coming too (91) and (81), but they will be driven here by my mother-in-law (62) cos they think it’s too far to drive themselves.

Last year I did the same thing, and the comment of my gran (91) was great when she left: ‘Heh, I thought it would be boring with all these old people, but it was great fun! Thx.’ Thank God they’re all still very lively and all.

Anyway, gonna need to bake three cakes, I presume. Don’t know which ones yet. I suppose cheesecake with cherries, and a coconut cake… Gonna browse my cakebooks a little ๐Ÿ™‚ This is one thing I’m pretty proud of: never has entered a bought cake this house yet, except for once when Bart came home with it as a surprise.

*huggles*

I positively hate this weather !!! Been raining for days now, I pity the parents with little children. I can’t even take the parasol inside, cos it doesn’t stop raining long enough for it to dry up. The gutters on the roof definitely need cleaning, but not gonna do that either in the rain, too slippery. And my little garden doesn’t have any flowers left since the rain all took them down ๐Ÿ™

I so want some sunshine !!!! And please not again a bloody heatwave like the last bit of good weather we had…

Heh, feeling content these days.

Had a great Cthulhu session on thursday, was kinda weird again, but very intense. We lost another party member tho ๐Ÿ™ Couldn’t be helped, was an instant death trap. Didn’t realize our GM was using them. Anyway, with some help of my hubbie the PHP magician, I did make a little website for our logs. Most of it is Dutch tho, the handouts are in English. Feel like checking it out ? You can comment on it here, if you feel I could do better. http://netlash.com/masks He made it so easy for me: all I have to do is type in the texts, scan the pics, I don’t even need an FTP client anymore. Never asked for that site either, he just told me to take a look at what he had made me, and if I felt like using it, adopting colours and styles… Nice surprise !!!

The rest of yesterday and friday was pretty uneventful: did some work for my bro, and yesterday Faust had promised to stop by, but had fallen asleep on his couch. He’s gonna try and stop by today then, LOL. THat is if he doesn’t fall asleep again ๐Ÿ™‚

Day started out pretty well too: everythingzen25 had this great post, made me laugh. Too bad I can’t reply on it, since I’m not in his friends’ list. Heh, no biggie. Weird thing is that I know Brac in a completely different way. Really had some good talks with him back in the old days. He even knows things about me that nearly no one knows, and he keeps them a secret, as I asked. Too bad I see he behaves like such an ass these days.

Went to get the trash out (cleaning my freezer, yuck) and I found a post package… Amazon, so books, but on my name ???
Turned out to be Tolkien’s Unfinished Tales and The Silmarillion, both in the black versions I have of LOTR and The Hobbit…

Glod, you’re a sweety !! You know you really shouldn’t have, but you know it brought a huge smile to my face !!!!

LOL I keep getting surprise gifts from my sweeties !!! Black roses from Faust, black books from my love, and evening walks from my hubbie :-)))

Aren’t I a lucky girl ???

:-)))))))))))))))

Too hot ? You could say that again! Scarcely a living soul on the streets, sparrows dropping dead out of the trees (or it could be that I just found a prey of my cat), and since we’re not used to this heat, no airco around.

Can someone please turn the sun a little lower ? Please ?

Avatar

Yep, 10.45 here, and the heat is already blasting…
Woke up yesterday at 8.00 in my tent cos of that bloody heat, my tent was in the sun and I felt scorched. Well, been scorched all weekend, but no matter what Randall or Grimlach may say, it was a hell of a weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

I admit, it’s seriously different from what other lives may be, but then again, the Walloons have a totally different notion of roleplaying. We try to get them to roleplay, and they’re not used to it. To them a weekend like this is hanging out, drinking, and occasionally bashing. And cheating a lot ! Honour, honesty and worthiness don’t mean much to them… Weird, cos most of our characters would gladly die if their honour were challenged !

Anyway, I arrived on saturday round noon (since Bart had mentally broke down on friday and needed me with him; took him to the live, he really needed a break) and even before I got checked in and changed, my band of Amazons had already seen me, cheered, and given me my captain’s tokens. ๐Ÿ™‚
So we started on accompanying (I mean the group of Amazons) our Baron to the Guilds’ Village, where you could have all the roleplay you wanted (been there, tried anything, Randall, Grimlach ???). Problem was: if I wanted to gain levels in the Arms’ Guild, I had to fulfill some missions and militia’s, and I just had no time for that !! We had tower and castle guard from 4 till 8 PM, in the scorching heat! Luckily the tower had four stores, so only the upper one was in the sun. Me as a captain, I took my responsibility and stayed up there for four hours. I was wearing tons of sunmilk, and my steel bra. Man, if I had been a breast feeding mother, the milk certainly would have been sterile, it was cooked !

After 8 I tried to eat a little, then there was the mass for Elena: fucking good one, since we gained sth from the Guild of Rituals, and then there was a captains’ meeting, to discuss strategie and things. So afterwards we waited a little for our ambassadors to come back, quarreled a little with some other factions, killed some Chardons, helped out the Scorpions, were under attack, and so on. I also managed to speak to Grand Master Achim again, the Master of the Guild of Knowledge, to find out what he wanted me to do for my second level of Medicine. Turned out it was lots, and I wouldn’t have the time anymore for all of it, but with a lot of help from others in the base camp, we managed to make a swell brancard and a neat hospital, which gained us a lot of credit.
By then I was exhausted, and I sat by the campfire, talking, singing, having fun, till 4 am.
Needed to get up at 7 for a general assault on the Chardons’ castle, only woke an hour later, so I manned the tower. Assault didn’t work, since there was no one in the castle; and we didn’t bring our siege weapons. Was fun tho !
Round 1 pm finally came the end battle, in an open field in the scorching sun. We all had been ordered to wear sth on our heads, and to bring lots of water. We had to perform a ritual, but our adversaries would want to keep us from that, so… The fighters, ours and our allies, got in line, forming a shield wall. I was behind that, shooting arrows, and I’m proud I did manage to hit quite a few ! Then I grabbed my pole and tried to hit people from behind the shields, but eventually we got run over, cos they’re so used to this kind of fighting, and man, they’re just plain good !!! The ritual was performed successfully tho, so in a way, even tho we got nearly all killed, we won !

Oh, and one major other thing: we managed to kill off for good that bloody blasted cheater of a Dark Elf !!!!!! We executed him, so he’s gone permanently ! YAY ! Was reason for a party in the castle, believe me !!!!!

Was a great weekend, to my opinion, and about 140 people of our faction do share that opinion (out of 150). Pity some didn’t like it, but if you start out by saying: ‘I don’t feel like it, I’d rather stay home, it will suck, we’ll have our BBQ there and then return, cos it will suck big time’, well… What do you expect ?

Gonna do some work now, if I manage, that is, in this heat. We’re not used to this, and nearly no houses do have airconditioning here ๐Ÿ™

Didn’t feel like updating in the first place, since glod, my sweety, nearly said it all already… But I just want to tell my wonderful week.

Sunday:
Poor guy arrived here in Belgium on Sunday a week ago, the very day I got surgery, so my beloved husband was so sweet to pick him up at the airport. Aren’t those two the greatest ? Gotta love them !
As I didn’t feel too great for a couple of days, we didn’t do much on monday and tuesday… He knew that on beforehand, but didn’t mind, since all he really wanted was being close to me. So missed that guy the last months…

Wednesday:
I wanted us to go to Paris for his birthday, but my cycle had decided otherwise: I needed to go back to the hospital to get the fertilized eggs implanted that day, so no Paris for us ๐Ÿ™ Oh well, gonna do it some other day then, no biggie.
We met with Faust en went for lunch, so there I was at a table in a restaurant, surrounded by my three guys, chatting away. Felt so good ๐Ÿ™‚ None of them has a problem with it, and that is just something beyound expectation ! At a certain moment I said ‘schat’ (the Dutch word for honey), and both Bart and Faust looked up from their plate and said ‘yes ?’ . I started to laugh, and Faust said: ‘Well, if you had said it in English, we might all three have answered…’ Made me blush, but also glow inside… Happy girl, me.
Bart had to leave for work, so Faust, Glod and I went for coffee. After a couple of hours, Faust was on his way too, and Glod and I went for a long walk around a local lake, as I wanted to show him the one hillthing we have around here: there is an artificial ski piste on it, can’t be THAT small, right ? Tho we couldn’t find it at first, was hidden behind some trees :-p
Didn’t do much more that day, didn’t feel too great in the evening again.

Thursday
Hmm, just great !!! I’m developing this huge cold/flu thing, in the middle of summer and when my love is over, and when I need to stay healthy to make the embryos feel at home. Slept a lot, helped my father-in-law a bit who came to trim our huge hedge, but nothing more. I feel so sorry for Glod… I currently feel like a genuine snotling… Glad I’m not green tho :-p
At night we went for a game of Chtulhu, was hilarious again ! Used tons of tissues tho, and developed a headache. Was completely beat by the time we got home again.
Glod won’t let me drive to Paris the next day, it’s too long a drive when I’m ill. Guess he’s right :-((((

Friday
More snot, more illness. I HATE it ! We got to clean the car, so at least that’s done. Didn’t do much more tho, since I preferred lying on the couch feeling rotten most of the day.

Saturday
Slept long, and at noon Peter, our beloved friend from Den Haag arrived :-))) We sat outside in the garden for quite a while in the afternoon, just chilling, then went for groceries and especially more Coke. Plan was to go out at night to the first day of the Gentse Feesten with the Tolkien Society, all dressed up as characters from Lord of the Rings, handing out flyers for the Storytelling. No such luck: it started to pour !
I had the feeling it might get dry again later on, so I took my costume in the car, and we went to Faust. Needed to pick up my new spikey collar he made for me, as a gift ! ๐Ÿ™‚ He and Jurryt were leaving for Prague next day, so I definitely wanted to see him before he left. Was a fun evening ! Man, we laughed a lot ! The guys decided to dub me a Chaos Hobbit ! Chaos cos of the spikes, Hobbit cos I’m small and have the costume… Was really fun !
Then, since sun was shining again, we went for the party zone, without costumes tho since the wussies of the society all thought it was too wet ๐Ÿ™
We managed to walk a lot, talk a lot, find some food, listen to some music, I met quite some friends, and we generally had good fun. Was exhausted by the cold by the time we got home, which wasn’t too late, being 1.30 AM or so.

Sunday
Peter had to leave at 11, so I woke Glod as well and we said goodbye… Since Glod wasn’t awake yet, he went back to bed, I did some administration, went to see him, snuggled up to him, and fell asleep too :-p Woke up only at 3 pm !
We did bits of nothing, I cooked, and at 8 we were at the Tolkien Society HQ to meet Randall and the others. I dressed up as a Hobbit, Glod was a very impressive Nazgรปl ! Gonna ask him to post the pic we took.
We walked around in the party zone, handing out flyers, scaring people, having fun and sore feet. Managed to make it for the fire spectacle at 11. Was good, not too great, but good. Went back into the heart of the party, had a drink (or two/three/four) and then headed home, since I was beat (damn cold!) and had to do storytelling next day.

Monday
Got up pretty late again, found some food in the party zone, went to the Trollenkelder, got dressed up as my Hobbit again for the storytelling. Glad my voice was pretty allright, and I didn’t sound too nasal anymore. Second part tho, I had to cut in half cos I started to cough. Grrr !!! Storytelling was allright tho.
Then Glod and I wandered around town (different atmosphere in the party zone during the day, lots of people still tho), I bought myself a ring, and tried to found one for him. No such luck so far tho. He’s both too picky and too broadfingered.
We headed back home round 6 pm, got some food, and watched some telly, as I was beat again. I HATE colds ! Glod was feeling very blah tho, didn’t feel like doing anything: no PC games, no TV, no Gentse Feesten, no reading, no nothing ๐Ÿ™
Later on, as I tucked him in, he told me that it was because Thursday was getting closer, and then he has to leave again ๐Ÿ™ I know, sweety, I know ๐Ÿ™

Tuesday
Being today… Got up round 10, Glod is still sleeping, I still have a headache because of the cold. No Paris, I’m afraid :-(((
Need to get an injection later on today, and then we’ll prolly meet up with my mom and walk around the party zone again. See some street theatre or Puppetbuskers. Yep yep ๐Ÿ™‚
Still need to do homework tho: storytelling again tomorrow, gonna tell the story of Beren and Luthien from the Silmarillion, still need to read it tho. Weather doesn’t look too great now.

Hmm, I’d better go shower, and get dressed, no ?
